Disability Confident.

One of the common problems that comes from having disabilities is the lack of job opportunities. While many disabled people are able and willing to work, many employers remain uneasy in wanting to employ disabled people. One person who is trying to tackle unemployment among disabled people is Cheltenham MP Alex Chalk who has organised ‘Disability Confident’ which will act as an event to attract local business to employ disabled people.

The event launched in 2013 will allow employers to hear from people who suffer from disabilities as well as Access to Work providers, who train those with disabilities to get into the workplace. The event will aim to get employers to sign a pledge to get more businesses to employee more people who suffer from disabilities.

''While we have made considerable progress in removing barriers to work for disabled people, there is clearly more still be done” – Alex chalk on the event.
